Archive for October, 2006
I should stop procrastinating and finish editing, already.
Editing is always my favorite part of filmmaking. But apparently not this time.
I’m getting there, slowly but surely.
Nov. 15th will be here before we know it!
Just wanted to drop a line to let you know that everything is going well, and editing is coming along nicely!
We’ll be done way before our target release date!
I was saving this stuff for tomorrow, but after the last post, I decided to just do it now and get it out of the way.
So, here’s the news!
The official release date for “Lost – Off The Island” is November 15th, 2006, at 9 PM Eastern time.
It will be distributed uninterrupted on www.bamferproductions.com
It will also be on http://youtube.com/profile?user=bamfer23, but will be available in segments there.
It will also premiere at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ on Friday November 17th, 2006. There will be a screening, a Q&A with the cast and crew, bloopers, food, and so on. If you are interested in going to this event, please email me at email@example.com. Also, I will post more information when it is closer to that day.
The Ecological Community Development Project website will be up and running Oct. 9th, 2006, and will be located at www.ecdproject.com. I will repost the link again when the site is open.
And now, without further ado, here is Teaser Trailer #2
And for those of you who missed out on it the first time, here is the first Teaser Trailer released in July 2006.
And for those of you still sticking around, here’s a little sneak peek of a rough cut of one of the scenes.
Hope you enjoy, my friends.
Someone named “Danny” left a comment on the post entitled “A little overzealous of me” that I would like to repost here, and then respond to.
“by not releasing this video on your own Oct. 3 release date, you’ve really shot yourself in the foot. the hatch is gone now, and every episode that we see of Lost will take viewer further from your subject matter. Had you released this early or on time, people would have eaten it up. You’ll be lucky if a small fraction of these will see it now. it’s going to get ‘lost’ because while people are seeing real episodes no one will care to see an amateurish production like your ‘Elevator’. Any press you had for this project has died down. Many people, myself included, won’t be back.”
Wow…what a complete lack of understanding you have for the world of production work.
I really dislike when people talk about things like they know what is going on.
I’m not sure if you’ve ever made a film before, but it takes a lot of hard work, dedication from everyone involved, and a lot of time.
When we originally posted the release date, way back in July, it was because we honestly thought we could release it by then.
However, due to set backs during production (such as weather), actor’s schedules, AND wanting to put the best product out there, things have to change.
I would much rather take the time and polish off the entire production and release a good final product than rush it, and release a half assed one on the original release date.
Also, in response to “the hatch is gone, new episodes will take the viewer further from your subject matter…”
I can’t really tell you how entirely untrue that entire statement is.
This film is meant to take place off the island, and really have no bearing on what is going on there at the present time. Not once do I mention “The Swan,” the hatch, Locke pressing the button, or its descruction in the film. In fact, those things have no bearing on the film.
“Off The Island” takes place between Days one and twenty-seven…That’s WAY before they even get
around to opening the hatch on the show.
And I completely disagree with you on the “small fraction” seeing this now. Traffic to this site has continually increased since the day it was announced.
Also, the release date for the film is now Nov. 15th. I don’t know if you’re familair with the new schedule for Lost, but they are showing six episodes, and then taking a break until Feb.
Nov 15th is the first Wednesday during the break. There will be no new episodes then. That was the point of setting the new release date then.
While, for whatever reason, you may personal problems with some things I have done in the past, that’s fine.
Sure, you can call something of mine ‘amatuerish,’ but it’s still legions above most short films you can find on the internet.
Anyone can pick up a camera, point, shoot, and then upload it onto YouTube.
May I ask if you have done any short films? Chances are, probably not.
So, if you don’t want to come back, that’s fine. Don’t.
But the thousands that have been visiting this journal and the website on a daily basis will.
I’m sorry you have some sort of personal vendetta against myself and this production. Perhaps you can move on with your life now that you won’t be back.
Have a nice day.
