Dead Air
Up until now, all of Bamfer Productions' previous shorts have been almost always 'spur of the moment' type deals. These shorts have mostly been met with praise from the viewers, and found to be very enjoyable. Those rare instances where there was a bit of planning before the film was shot (Reflections Of Your Inner-Self, for example), have actually been met with more respect than I could have ever imagined.
So it got me thinking: What could we accomplish if we actually did a REAL LIVE production? With casting calls, storyboards, and (gasp!) actors who aren't just recruited friends? That, and the combined aspect that I have to complete a short film for a class this upcoming semester at school drove me to this conclusion: We NEED to do this.
"Dead Air" is the most ambitious production on our part to date. We are confident that we can plan this out efficiently, have a smooth production, and a very satisfying end product. The key word here is that it's a STUDENT film. Not everything will be perfect, but we intend to be as professional as possible. We also intend to be as open to people in the production as we can. We want to run an environment where everyone can be comfortable, and have their ideas heard to make the best short film possible.
A word about the story itself: "Dead Air" is based upon an incredible short story by Thomas Stone. After reading the story, I e-mailed Mr. Stone about making a short film out of it. After some discussion, he agreed to let us try our hand at it. For those interested, you can read the original story at Gothic.net or here on the Bamfer Productions website.
The script itself was written by myself, Jeff Heimbuch, and co-written by Thomas Stone himself.
I will also be directing, editing, and doing what ever else production work needs to be done.
Matt Sell is a man of many talents. Therefore, he's my partner in crime, and 2nd in command in this endeavor.
We're aiming to shoot in Mid-August.

Today was the first production meeting with the cast and crew. Made a LOT of head way about the script, characters, and what not. It all came together pretty well, I think. Though, there is one issue that most of us had, and I had addressed before with Mr. Stone, and that's the whole point of the Dead Air. What does it want? Why is it doing this? I'm trying to think of something to answer that, but I've got to talk to Mr. Stone about it. The Dead Air site is up at www.deadairmovie.net It's just an intro at the moment, but I'm working on the rest of the site. Also, Josh and I made a scrim today. Check it out:
